This monastery is very ancient, already mentioned in the VIII century and repeatedly mentioned in the Pontifical Book. It is close to the church of Tre Fontane, formerly called "Ad Acqua Salvis", the place where the apostle of the Gentiles, San Paolo, was beheaded, a church that had to rise in the time of Constantine.
