Le Famiglie de' R., e de' Cortigiani provengono amendue dalla famigli de' Visdomini, detta dal volgo Bisdomini di Fiorenza, da cui pure sono sortite le famiglie degli Aliotti, della Tosa, e Tosinghi; onde parlando della famiglia de' Visdomini nell'antico, si viene a discorrere de' R. oggi in Ferrara, e in Francia, e de' Cortigiani in Fiorenza, essendo un medesimo sangue. La famiglia dunque de' Visdomini stipite de' suddetti R., e Cortigiani è una delle più antiche, e nobili famiglie di Fiorenza, alla quale da un Principe fu data la laureola in riguardo al Vescovato di questa Città, di cui fu la fondatrice, come si prova da una isrizione, e dalle Croniche di Ricordano Malespini, nelle quali si legge i Visdomini, i Tosinghi, e Cortigiani sono della medesima stirpe, e da questa ne fu fondato il Vescovato di Fiorenza; Pietro Monaldi asserisce l'istesso, Lorenzo Poggio, Lando Carducci, Giovanni Villani, e
