Nobile e antica casata originaria della Toscana . Detti anticamente Cherichini e Roncognani. Un Barduccio di Cherichino fu priore nel 1387; altri ottennero per sette volte il priorato, e per tre volte il gonfalonierato di giustizia. Hanno avuto un cavaliere di Malta, ed hanno provato il Quarto a S. Stefano. ne sono alcuni di questa Casa, che uno Secolare, e l'atro canonico della cattedrale. Un Giovanni fu degli otto di balia e dei dieci di libertà. Di questa famiglia non si hanno più notizie dal 1795. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio. Quel che però di certo habbiamo, è che la casata per la loro antichità, e splendore, e per virtù militare, carrichi così laicali, come Ecclesiastici,
