Antica famiglia fregiata del titolo di signori della Rocca, detta anche Rocchicciola, castello del contado di Assisi; e Sanctes Rebeus è il primo di questa famiglia di cui si abbia memoria nel 1088. Bernardino cavaliere della Rocchicciola nel 1472; Brunamonte governatore e castellano di Orvieto, nel 1540, e governatore di Ascoli nel 1560; Pietro di Brunamonte commissario e collaterale generale delle milizie dello stato ecclesiastico nel 1555; Pietro di Francesco, e Pierluigi suo nepote, coi loro discendenti, ascritti al patriziato e cittadinanza di Roma con diploma 18 Maggio 1575. Cristiano stabilì la sua casa in Foligno nel 1534 e fu ascritto a quella nobiltà. Alessandro riportò da Foligno in Assisi la propria famiglia, e se ne rese grandemente benemerito coll'insegnarvi pubblicamente le belle lettere, e vi morì nel 1851.
