Famiglia sivigliana, assai antica e nobile propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La casata ebbe origine nella città di Osuna e ad essa appartenne Gregorio Roso y Cueto, marito di Donna Petronilla de Angulo y Bohorquez, originaria di Moron de la Frontera. Da questa unione nacque Juan Roso y Angulo, che contrasse matrimonio con Donna Maria del Rosario Prados y Aguilar, nativa di Ecija, figlia di Francisco de Prados y Espada e di Donna María de Aguilar y Parra. Dalla loro matrimonio nacque Gregorio Roso y Prado, Capitano della Real Armada, e Francisco Roso y Prado, Capitano di Fragata. Entrambi, successivamente, divennero membri dell'Ordine di Calatrava, nel 1796. Appartenne a questa famiglia anche quel Francisco, padre di María Teresa Roso Sánchez, sposa di Cristóbal de Govantes y de Céspedes. Dall'unione di quest'ultimi nacque Cristóbal José de Govantes Roso, Cavaliere dell'Ordine di San Juan di Gerusalemme, nel 1761.
