Esta casa é conhecida no Languedoc desde Géraud Rossel, que assinou como testemunha, no dia 3 de outubro de 1231, um acordo feito entre Raymond Vll, conde de Toulouse, e Raymond, abade de Gaillac. Fundada mais tarde na Picardia, teria retornado a Vivarais, depois ao baixo Languedoc, em 1440, e teria formado lá estoques de Rossels de Fontarhches, mantidos por julgamento de M. de Bezon e de Rossels de Cercy Tannoy, cujos a genealogia é dada pelo Chenaye des Bois (XII, 331). Jacques de Rossel, escudeiro, era oficial de justiça do condado de Crussol no século XVII; casara-se com Claude de Rossel, filha do senhor de Sainte-Anastasie e Marie de Puech. Foi mantido por julgamento soberano de 19 de novembro de 1668. Os Rossels de Cercy e de Tannoy possuíam, segundo L. de La Roque, “de azul, três tartarugas d'or. »Veja: La Chenaye des Bois.
