Famiglia da Cologna anticamente traslocata in Verona, della quale fu Pietro figlio di Bartolomeo di Cologna, ascritto alla cittadinanza veronese nel 1423. Ma trovandosi negli Annali e Memorie del canonico Giambattista Da Lisca nominato il notaro Guido Novarini di S. Vitale all'anno 1353, pare che un ramo di questa casa fosse in Verona molto prima. Girolamo nel 1589 fu nominato giudice di collegio; e Luigi chierico regolare fu uomo dotto, celebre oratore e scrittore di molte opere erudite (secoli XVI e XVII9. Questa stirpe nel 1519 entrò nel Consiglio municipale, e finì di appartenervi verso la fine del XVII secolo. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii
