Antica ed illustre famiglia originaria di Modena. Fu annoverata dallo Spaccini fra le nobili modenesi nella sua Cronaca nel 1543. Varie famiglie omonime si propagarono in diverse regioni d'Italia. Le notizie bibliografiche che ci vengono tramandate sono riconducibili a questa casata di cui ne abbiamo tratto nota. Antica e doviziosa, ed una delle famiglia di Verona inscritte ad antico nell'estimo, ma non aggregate mai al nobile Consiglio. Altra famiglia alzò per arma. Di rosso alla fascia increspata d'azzurro, accompagnata in capo da tre gigli d'oro, male ordinati.
