Alte und sehr edle sizilianische Familie französischer Herkunft, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Europas und der Welt verbreitet hat. Nach Mugnos 'Berichten wäre der Vorläufer der Familie Rubino ein Aliprando, ein Ritter von Lyon, der 1114 florierte. Der Ursprung dieser Erkenntnis sollte laut maßgeblichen Ahnenforschern im mittelalterlichen Stab "Rubinus" gesucht werden, obwohl dies auch möglich ist eine Ableitung von der Apherese des Namens "Cherubino". Auf jeden Fall kam die Familie mit einer Piermaria zur Zeit von König Martin und der Weißen Königin nach Sizilien, als "rationaler Meister der königlichen Kammer". Andererseits hat es diese Familie in der Entfaltung ihres Glanzes immer geschafft, eine Reihe von Männern hervorzubringen, die seinen Namen berühmt gemacht haben, im öffentlichen Dienst und im Militärdienst. Unter diesen befinden sich: zwischen Giannantonio und Fra Antonio, zwischen 1401 und 1506 gerosolimitische Ritter, ohne den Wert des Ausgelassenen zu riskieren; Amodeo, der Sekretär von Papst Martino;
