Benchè alla famiglia Ruffina alcuni Autori gli assegnino per madre la famiglia Vibia, tutte perciò originano dalla Cornelia, come vuole il sopracitato Orsini; e benchè questa meritasse più volte il Consolato, risplende però molto più in persona di quell'Antonino Ruffino, mentre dominvana con l'Imperale dignità Adriano, che più volte per compagno nel governo se l'elesse. E di non inferiore merito fu quel Memmio Ruffino, che fu senza causa fatto morire dall'Imperatore Severo con uno stuolo di Nobiltà Romana, come ben nota Ignazio nella Vita di Severo suddetto. Questo cognome di Ruffino benchè lo portasse la Vibia, fu però antico della famiglia Cornelia madre fecondissima delle suddette famiglie Consulari, come anche dell'altre, che appresso scriverò, e perchè quello fu il Progenitore della famiglia Silla si pone da me qui sotto distintamente, conta l'Orsini di questa quattro Consoli, e due Dittatori.
