Famiglia patrizia ferrarese. Rinaldo fece parte dei Savi di Ferrara più volte tra il 1623 e il `55, e allo stesso magistrato appartenne nel 1668 anche suo figlio Giuseppe, che addì 4 ottobre 1679 ebbe dal duca di Mantova il titolo di conte trasmissibile in ordine di primogenitura maschile. Gio. Andrea di Giuseppe entrò in Consiglio come consigliere del primo ordine per breve d'Innocenzo XII in data 7 aprile 1696, e morì senza prole. Dal di lui fratello Rinaldo che, rimasto vedovo, abbracciò lo stato ecclesiastico, discendono in linea retta i discendenti viventi, e cioè Luigi, Alfredo ed Elena di Antonio e della contessa Rachele Malvasia. Il titolo di patrizio di Ferrara (m.) venne riconosciuto a questa famiglia con Decreto Ministeriale 12 settembre 1899; quello di conte (mpr.) con altro Decreto Ministeriale 10 aprile 1900.
