Antigua familia de Campania, con primera residencia en Benevento, llamada Roscio o Ruscio, que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. La tradición dice que Roscimanno, obispo de Benevento, pertenecía a esta familia, que, en la época del rey Roger, fue expulsada de la dignidad episcopal, después de haber seguido la parte del antipapa Anacleto.
