Questa famiglia ha comune l'origine con la famiglia omonima sempre del Veneto. Come si disse, nel secolo XVI essa si divise in due rami coi figli di Tommaso: Giovanni (Zuanne) diede origine al ramo di S. Samuele, precedentemente illustrato e Nicolò, ultrogenito, è autore di questo ramo, detto di S. Stae (S. Eustacchio). Nel secolo XVIII si segnalarono Alvise III, Provveditore Generale della Dalmazia; suo figlio Alvise IV fu ambasciatore a Roma, a Madrid e due volte a Napoli. Il 19 aprile 1763 fu creato Doge e morì il 31 dicembre 1778. Questo ramo per ducale 9 marzo 1763 ebbe l'investitura di due feudi con giurisdizione civile e criminale con titolo di Conte pei maschi primogeniti pel feudo di Cordignano e la terza parte di quello di Latisana. Possiede inoltre il juspatronato famigliare della Gran Croce dell'Ordine Gerosolimitano del Regno di Cipro colla Commenda di S. Giovanni del Tempio
