Ancienne et très noble famille féodale des Abruzzes, avec première résidence à Chieti, connue sous le nom de Sabini ou Sabino, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie et du monde. La légende raconte que la famille descend de Raino, comte de Sabina au IXe siècle, appartenant à une branche lignagère de la célèbre famille Crescenzi, qui excella dans l'histoire de Rome du milieu du Xe siècle au milieu du XIe siècle. Cependant, ce dont nous sommes historiquement certains, c'est que cette famille est passée résider à L'Aquila à la fin du Xe-VIe siècle et là, elle a été attribuée au Patriciat. Éteinte dans la branche primipare au Xe-VIIe siècle, la famille Sabino a survécu et survit encore aujourd'hui dans les branches collatérales, y compris celle qui à Lanciano a donné des personnages distingués en tant que facteurs d'orgues et musiciens.
