Barone Normando, fù Siniscalco del è Carlo Settimo, i cui descendenti vissero con splendore militare sempre in quel Regno, e da' predetti ne pervenne Gerardo Sabia così detto in lingua Siciliana, che sotto il Rè Alfonso in ricompensa di militari servigi hebbe il governo della Città di Nicosia, dove i Cittadini parlano per natural lingua Lombardo, e Francese antico mischiato, quindi procreò molti figli, che si dilatarono per cagion di matrimoni nella Città di Polizzi, e altrove ancora, Nicolò si stabilì in Palermo Nicolò fù Mastro Rationale di Cappa, e Spada del Real Patrimonio, il cui fratello Pietro ottenne l'infeudatione di certi suoi Terreni. E'l predetto Nicolò hebbe confirma delli feudi di Rocca di Gerace e Valdili nel 1474 e anche il feudo di Malportuso nel medesimo anno ( o come vogliono ) nel 1479 che gli successe suo figlio Federico
