Famiglia pesarese ma di origine toscana, e propriamente di Monsummano in Val di Nievole. Suo capostipite fu Francesco, vivente nella prima metà del scolo XVII, da cui venne Giovanni, che ebbe 14 agosto 1707, Domenico che fu medico. Egli prima doveva essere ecclesiastico, ma poi cambiò idea e si recò a Bologna per studiare filosofia e medicina, e poi a Pisa il 22 novembre 1733, conseguì la laurea. Nel 1735 ottenne la libera docenza, che poi nel 1783 ebbe anche per gli Stati Ecclesiastici, stabilendosi a Roma per esercitarvi la sua professione. Sposò Maria Elisabetta Fabiani (n. Bagno il 12 agosto 1722), e ne ebbe 12 figli, che nella maggior parte morirono fanciulli: Gian Luigi, nato a Longiano, fu sacerdote e nel 1761 lo troviamo cantore della Cappella Sistina; Maria Cristina (n. 1746), monaca a Recanati; Francesco (n. Recanati 1768), fu pittore a Roma ed infine
