Famiglia originaria di Torino. Giacomo Giuseppe Paglietti, insigne dottore in medicina, benemerito professore della R. Università di Cagliari, raggiunse l'alta carica di protomedico generale nel regno ed isola di Sardegna, ed il figlio Carlo, dottore in leggi, dotto giureconsulto, fu giudice della Sala civile della R. Udienza. Epperò, in considerazione degli alti servizi resi allo Stato, Carlo Emanuele IV, re di Sardegna, coi diplomi in data 13 settembre 1799 concedeva al predetto Carlo ed ai suoi figliuoli e discendenti maschi i titoli di cavaliere e di nobile. I nomi dello stesso don Carlo e dei componenti la sua famiglia sono compresi nell'elenco delle persone nobili, dimoranti nel 1825 nella città di Cagliari, compilato dalla R. Segreteria di Stato e di Guerra presso il vicerè di Sardegna. La famiglia fa uso dello stemma suindicato.
