Visse sempre tra le celebre famiglie del Regno di Navarra la Saladdino e così ne parla Carlo Redin nella "Historia del Regno di Navarra": "il di lei progenitor fu un Cavaliero Navarrese che, guerreggiando contro i Mori, nell'anno 1080 uccise in duello un valoroso Capitano de' Mori chiamato Saladino, e fu cagione della vittoria ai Christiani con orribile uccisione di centomila Mori, per lo che acquistò egli con tutta la sua posterità per sì famosa attione il cognome di Saladdino, suo figlio Uberto fu Capitano della Cavallaria dell'esercito del Rè D.Garzia di Navarra nel 1135 il cui fratello Enrico, fu Secretario, e Consultore del Rè D.Sancio Quarto di Navarra, e da costoro ne pervennero tanti soggetti illustri, l'attioni, e vite de' quali formarebbero un libro. Il primo, che di lei passò in Sicilia, fù Ubertino Cavalier Navarrese à servigi del Rè Martino nel 1393 e per le sue virtù militari,
