La Chiarissima famiglia V. del Prencipe di Valdina, e Marchese della Rocca di Maurianni visse antichissima, e celebre in Spagna, originata delle famiglia de Vhart derivata de Prencipi Goti, la quale altresì visse ricca, e potente sotto i Regi Aragonese, e quattrocento, e più anni Signoria della Villa V. nel medesimo Regno; ne scrive di lei chiaramente l'antico historico Aragonese Garzì de Santa Maria nella Cronica d'Aragona, al libro terzo dove trattando le guerre, e successi di quel Regno, e di molti antichi Baroni, che intervennero col Rè in quei acquisti contra Mori. Con la descrition del soprascritto Auttore habbiam fondata la succession fin Colombo V.; il quale nel 1209 passò d'Aragona in Italia con carico d'Ambasciadore al Pontefice Innocentio Terzo, per trattar il matrimonio trà il Rè Federico di Sicilia, che poi fù Imperadore, con l'infanta Costanza sorella del detto Rè Pietro secondo, perloche dal medesmo Pontefice fù mandato
