Antica famiglia ed assai illustre famiglia siciliana, che godette nobiltà in Palermo, Licata, Naro e Caltagirone, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Un Enrico, da Licata, fu milite sotto re Pietro e forse fu egli stesso quel Caro che tenne la carica di giustiziere di Palermo nel 1282; un Falco (o Fulco), milite da Naro, ottenne dal re Federico concessione del casale e feudo di Ravanusa, il 12 maggio 1366 ottenne conferma dei feudi di Monterosso, Milgi, Jancarano e Jandilgaldino; un Ruggero di pretore di Palermo nel 1394-95; un Federico fu giurato in Caltagirone nell'anno 1401-2 e nello stesso anno, in Salemi, tenne la stessa carica un Palmerio; un salvatore è notato nel ruolo dei feudatari del 1408 come barone di Canicatti; un Benedetto, figlio di Fulco, fu investito il 10 maggio 1416 del feudo Milici o Masseria del Regia Corte, e, per la moglie Costanza, possedette
