Famiglia originaria da Bologna. Giuseppe, era capitano dei cavalieri di Napoleone I e si trovò alla disfatta di Waterloo. Non avendo voluto passare sotto re Luigi Filippo, fu esiliato in Grecia. A Corfù gli nacque Ercole, che si portò in Urbino, quale ingegnere provinciale e dove, per i suoi meriti e per essersi imparentato con nobili famiglie di detta città, il 1° febbraio 1841 ottenne di essere aggregato a quella nobiltà con tutta la discendenza in perpetuo. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Nobiliare Ufficiale Italiano col titolo di nobile di Urbino (mf.). La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei tornei, e durante
