Dimostrata la diretta discendenza da questa famiglia, di Filippo, di Benciventi. Nel 1389 il canonico Antonio e il tenente Andrea Spiridione, fratelli e figlioli del dott. Pietro, furono ascritti alla nobiltà fiorentina con rescritto granducale del 27 luglio 1850. Furono chiamati sette volte al Priorato della Repubblica, alla quale dettero altresì un giureconsulto eccellente, Alessandro, di Filippo, adoperato in molte ambascerie. Meglio conosciuti nel ramo principale col cognome Bencivenni, furono per lungo tempo ritenuti estinti con Bencivenni, di Raffaello, morto nel 1584; fino a quando, cioè, i predetti Jacopo Antonio e Andrea Spiridione non dimostrarono, come si è detto sopra, la sopravvivenza della famiglia. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di nobile di Firenze (mf.), in persona dei disc. da Pietro, di Andrea Spiridione. Altro ramo. Famiglia di antica origine pisana, come da solenne riconoscimento del Consiglio di Pisa del 22 maggio 1610. Salvadore, del Capitano
