Ancient and very noble Spanish lineage, of clear and ancestral virtue, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of the Kingdom, with important settlements in Southern Italy. In Spain this family enjoyed the marquis title but already in the 17th century it was nobly established in the Kingdom of Naples. Don't make the mistake of confusing it with the many families of the same name who have already settled in that area for some time, very valuable in spirit but of bourgeois extraction. From one of these was born the famous Francisco Salzillo y Alcaraz (Murcia, 12 May 1707 - Murcia, 2 March 1783), considered the most representative sculptor of the Spanish eighteenth century and one of the greatest of the Baroque period, son of the Italian sculptor Nicola Salzillo , native of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and moved to Iberian land at the age of thirty. Returning to the Salzillos of noble extraction, we remember: Alessandro Salzillo, bishop of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi and Bisaccia (12 May 1646 - 1646, deceased); Flaminio Salzillo, doctor of both laws, flourishing in Capua in 1679; Isabella Salzillo, wife of the noble Vincenzo Piscicelli of Amorosi, flourishing at the dawn of the 18th century; cav. Bartolomeo Salzillo, of the royal cavalry of Naples, flourishing in 1723; Don Nicola Salzillo, knight inquisitor in the Land of Work, ...
