Antica ed illustre famiglia che à dato alla patria uomini egregi. Clarello, valoroso capitano, sostenne i Ravennati nella guerra contro i Ferraresi nel 1113; Guido militò con Paolo Traversari negli eserciti dell'Imperat. Federico nel 1226; Fortunato primeggiò fra i più eccellenti maestri di musica del XVI secolo, e servì lungo tempo la Corte di Portogallo al tempo di Re Giovanni IV. Furono senatori in patria un Tommaso nel 1562 ed un Sebastiano nel 1586. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia di Verona riconosciuta nel titolo di conte in Baviera il 26 Gen. 1814. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori.
