Martino Sancelli, risieduto nel Magistrato dei Priori di Pistoia l'anno 1549, fu padre del dottore in leggi Ruffino, che da Caterina Sozzifanti ebbe Giuliano, un pronipote del quale, Matteo, di Cosimo, di Domizio, nato nel 1707, ottenne per decreto 9 giugno 1755 l'ascrizione al Patriziato pitoiese per sé e pei tre figli avuti da Francesca Conversini: Cosimo, Giulio e Piero. Questi fu padre di Domizio, Domizio Antonio, Anton Matteo, Eligio Ferdinando e Antonio Andrea, che, insieme con tre sorelle, figurano come ultimi iscritti nel Libro d'Oro dei Patrizi Pistoiesi. La famiglia è iscritta genericamente nell'Elenco Uff. Nob. Ital. del 1922, col titolo di Patrizio di Pistoia (mf.) in persona dei Discendenti da Piero, di Matteo. Altro ramo. Oriundi di Acquapendente. Il cav. Iacovacci ricorda i nomi seguenti: 1222 Nicolaum Sancellium; 1389 Joannem Sancelli; 1458; 1458 Dom. Marola relicta q. Dni Jacobj de Sancellis, Mater Sabbae Antonij de Mutis, sepulta est
