Originalmente da Espanha, passou para a Sicília com o rei Pedro I de Aragão em 1282, e um ramo da Sicília foi transplantado para Nápoles, onde gozava de nobreza na sede de Montagna. Ele possuía 38 feudos, os condados de Carbonara, Carrion, Marotta, Ragal e Santo Stefano del Porto, os marquisados de Gagliato, Grottola, Pascarola e Vico di Pantano e os ducados de Casal di Principe di Santarpino. O Sanchez deu muitos homens distintos que se destacavam por altos cargos ocupados, por valor e virtude para a cidade.
