Duccio, caballero, fue uno de los que Castruccio Antelminelli, en el acto de morir, instituyó guardianes de sus hijos en 1328. Decio, señor del castillo de Capo di Vacca, y teniendo entre otros niños a uno llamado Sandeo, ordenó en su testamento de que los descendientes de este asumieron el apellido de Sandei, manteniendo también el de Rocca di Vacca. Su hijo Sandro, quien se mudó a Venecia en 1316 para comerciar en fábricas de seda, comenzó ese gran linaje que tenía empresarios, juristas y embajadores.
