Nobile casato francese, originario della Lorena, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e d'Italia, prevalentemente in Veneto. In data 9 ottobre 1592, ossia quando i Gesuiti presero possesso del collegio di Périgueux, notiamo la figura di un Nicolas Sandrin, avvocato al Parlamento di Bordeaux, tra i firmatari del contratto tra costoro e la città. La famiglia Sandrin, inoltre, è annoverata tra le maggiori di Périgueux. Nel 1635, rinveniamo un Helie Sandrin, signore di Fonpitou, avvocato in Saint-Martial-de Viveyrols; nel 1639, un Pierre, signore di Fonpitou, fu consigliere in Périgueux; François, scudiero e signore di la Rolandie, fu avvocato in Périgueux, nel 1658-59. Con lettere patenti di Luigi XIV, alla famiglia venne confermata l'avita nobiltà, come registrato dalla Corte di Bordeaux, in data 26 maggio 1659.
