Originaria della città di Cordova nelle Spagne, trapiantata nel reame di Napoli da un Giacomo Fernandez o Ferdinando insignito di gradi militari sotto il Gran Capitano Consalvo ed investito del nobile ed importante ufficio di castellano di Trani. Francesco di lui figlio avendo sposato nel 1509 Rella Fanelli nobile barese, si trasferì in Bari ed ottenne di essere ascritto all'Ordine dei cittadini primarii. Giambattista illustre giureconsulto ed avvocato presso la Corte di Polonia, ottenne dal re Sigismondo nel 1526 il privilegio di usare per proprio stemma le armi del Granducato di Lituania ed altre prerogative nobiliari. Oggi non si hanno più notizie di questa famiglia. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Genova. Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane.
