Nobile famiglia lucchese, ricordata dai genealogisti fin dal sec. XI, come proveniente da Sala in Garfagnana. Un Guido Santino e un Gerardo Santino furono signori di Oneta e della Rocca presso Borgo Mozzano, in Val di Serchio. Tale illustre famiglia, trasse il nome da Santino di Tedice nel sec. XIV, dopo che bandita dalla città nel 1308, come appartenente alla "cerna potentium", tornò ad occupare i maggiori uffici, dando alla Repubblica dal 1434 al 1797 numerosi gonfalonieri, anziani e ambasciatori. Estinta dal 1812 in un Nicola Santino, di Cesare, il quale era stato ambasciatore per la Repubblica al re di Napoli, al duca di Parma e all'imperatore d'Austria. Egli lasciò due figlie: la marchesa Marianna, maritata in casa Montecatini, e la marchesa Vittoria, maritata in casa Torrigiani di Firenze. Quest'ultima morì nel 1845. Fra gli ecclesiastici sono ricordati nel sec. XV, Tice di Santino, vicario generale della diocesi di Lucca,
