Con regio decreto motu proprio 3 agosto 1909 e regie lettere patenti 17 maggio 1912, Francesco Santucci, di Carlo, ottenne la rinnovazione del titolo di conte proveniente dalla famiglia materna Fontanelli; della quale aveva aggiunto il cognome. La famiglia Fontanelli, originaria da Reggio Emilia, si trapiantò a Modena nel 1717. Fino dal 1380 un Guido Fontanelli ebbe la cittadinanza di Mantova e fu insignito del titolo di conte nel 1434 dall'imperatore Sigismondo. Nel 1612 Alfonso Maria, ottenne dal duca Alfonso, il feudo di San Donnino col titolo di marchese. Giulio, consigliere e maggiordomo del duca Ferdinando Gonzaga, fu pure investito del feudo di Fubino col titolo marchionale. Alfonso, fu governatore civile e militare dei ducati di Massa e Carrara: Achille, uno degli uomini più insigniti dell'impero napoleonico, fu creato conte dell'impero francese e conte del regno d'Italia.
