Cavalier Gioacchino, ein spanischer Adliger, geboren in Ceuta in Afrika, Brigadier in den Truppen, Major Squire und Kammerherr des Herzogs von Modena Ercole III, gründete die Familie in Modena. Seit dem 15. Oktober 1763 hatte er für sich und seine Nachkommen die edle Staatsbürgerschaft von Modena erhalten. Am 7. September 1795 verlieh ihm die Gemeinschaft von Reggio Emilia den Titel eines Patriziers Reggio für sich und männliche Abstammung. Sein Sohn, der Kavalier Giuseppe, wurde am 2. Juli 1816 mit einem Dekret der Konservatorien und des Podestà in den erneuerten Konservatoriumsorden und das Goldene Buch von Modena aufgenommen. Die Familie ist in der italienischen Adelsliste mit den Titeln des Patriziers von Modena eingetragen (m.), Patrizier von Reggio (m.), in der Person von Francesco, Carlo, Giuseppe, geboren am 27. September 1871.
