Famiglia oriunda da Salabue (Casale), che assurse al fastigio della nobiltà con Sebastiano Antonio (nato a Salabue, 27 giugno 1781), di Francesco Maria, il quale arricchitosi coll'agricoltura, fondò una commenda patronata dell'Ordine Mauriziano nel 1820. Fu ammesso fra i decurioni di prima classe di Casale dopo aver consegnato in occasione di sue nozze il titolo di conte. Sposò (1813) Rosa del conte Alessandro Melina di Capriglio, e fu suo figlio Ferdinando (nato a Torino, 6 febbraio 1816; deced. a Torino, 21 maggio 1859), che ottenne di aggiungere al proprio il nome materno Melina di Capriglio il 30 aprile 1839. Dalle sue nozze con Teresa dei conti Thesauro di Meano ebbe numerosa prole. Meritano particolare ricordo: Ernesto (nato a Torino, 17 novembre 1841; deced. a Firenze, maggio 1901), che fu ufficiale nel Ministero della Guerra e fu dispensato dal servizio per aver preso parte alla spedizione di Mentana, Luigi (nato a
