Un Marchese, il quale viveva nei primi anni del XIII secolo fu il capostipite di quest'antica e nobile famiglia, che da lui prese il nome. Figlio di Marchese, fu Nicolò dal quale provenne Marchese II, padre di Giacomo, che fu cav. aurato nel 1401, di Taddeo, colonnello della cavalleria milanese per Filippo-Maria Visconti alla liberazione di Fano nel 1433, e di Francesco che continuò in patria la propria discendenza. Nicolò, dotto giureconsulto, governò parecchie provincie dello stato pontificio, e fu internunzio apostolico di Clemente VIII presso il Duca di Savoia; Giambattista cav. aurato, conte lateranense e giureconsulto; Michele Vescovo di Sarsina nel 1682; Sigismondo Cav. di S. Stefano si segnalò nella guerra di Candia e risiedette per più anni fra i 12 cavalieri del supremo Consiglio; Giulio-Cesare aggregato alla nobiltà ferrarese nel 1719; ed Antonio in questo stesso anno vestì l'abito del S.
