Portata in Sicilia dalla Spagna da un Tommaso Antonio, nato in Bilbao a 21 dicembre 1672 da Pietro e Maddalena de Gertucha, il quale venne in Palermo nell'anno 1700 con la carica di segretario della SS. inquisizione, sposò Agata Gagliardo dei baroni di Casal di Pietra, fu senatore di Palermo, conservatore del tribunale del R. Patrimonio nel 1718 e intendente generale delle truppe di Sicilia e morì in Palermo a 21 marzo 1746. Luca Antonio e Gagliardo suo figlio, fu senatore di Palermo negli anni 1735-36, 1738-39, segretario del tribunale della SS. Inquisizione, conservatore del tribunale del R. Patrimonio ed ottenne, con privilegio dato a 30 novembre esecutorio a 26 dicembre 1757, il titolo di marchese, titolo che nel 1784 venne incardinato al predicato di San Tommaso. Per la morte senza figli di detto Luca, succedette nel titolo, il fratello Stefano, abate di Santa Maria di Mandanici, che ne ottenne
