Antica famiglia di Rovigo, al cui Nobile Consiglio risulta ascritta sin dal 10 gennaio 1623 e fu confermata nella sua nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione 8 luglio 1820. La famiglia è iscritta nell'EIenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di nobile (di Rovigo) (mf.), in persona dell'ultimo riconoscimento Nicolò, di Romualdo (1841). La famiglia levò per arme. Di verde al leone d'oro, linguato di rosso, tenente un sasso d'argento con la zampa destra. Altro ramo. Nobile famiglia di Scala, già patrizia di Ravenna e della stessa casata di S. Romualdo, il fondatore dell'Ordine dei Camaldolesi nell'XI sec. In un anonimo ms. del XVII sec. Riportato dal Camera, si legge che nel palazzo Sasso in Scala "nel luogo detto i Sassi seu S. Andrea de Pando" si potevano vedere "tra gli archetti intrecciati tra due cornicioni croci, gigli e monti, emblemi dell?impresa di famiglia Sasso con cingoli militari", ma è da notare che
