Coi diplomi in data 11 marzo 1642 venivano concessi a Francesco Sattai Sotgiu i titoli di cavalierato e di nobiltà e l'uso delle armi gentilizie, trasmissibili ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi. Nelle Corti generali, tenute in Cagliari sotto la presidenza del vicerè conte di Montellano nel 1698, furono abilitati trentuno membri di questa nobile ed antica famiglia, tutti residenti nei villaggi della parte settentrionale dell'isola, eccezione fatta per il dottor Agostino, residente in Iglesias. Nell'elenco dei feudatari dei nobili e dei cavalieri esistenti nei villaggi della provincia di Nuoro, compilato nel 1822 dalla Regia Prefettura e trasmesso alla Regia Segreteria di stato e di guerra presso il vicerè di Sardegna, erano compresi i nomi di don Francesco, don Giuseppe e don Luigi Sattai, residenti a Gavoi. E nell'elenco compilato dalla Regia Prefettura di Sassari, nello stesso anno 1822, era compresso il nome di don Gabriele
