Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean, vivant en 1450, épouse Anne Rougebec, dont: Félix, marié en 1479 à Anne de Brie, de la maison de Serrant; Jacques, abbé de Meillerai en 1556; Mathurin, évêque de Bayeux en 1583; cinq chevaliers de Malte depuis 1550; Charles, fils de Jean et de Guyonne de Beauvau, se fixa en Bretagne où il épousa en 1597 Jeanne de Bréhand. Plusieurs chevaliers de l'ordre et deux gentilshommes de la chambre depuis 1587; un conseiller au parlement en 1639, mort en 1689, marié à Marie Goddes de Varennes, intime amie de madame de Sévigné qui la surnommait Trochanire; un lieutenant des gardes-du-corps en 1679, brigadier de cavalerie en 1691, tué la même année au combat de Leuze; un grand bailli de Malte, chef d'escadre et commandant des galères de France en 1750; un lieutenant des gardes-du-corps, tué en défendant le Roi aux journées d'octobre 1789, à Versailles. Un membre admis aux honneurs de la cour en 1781.
