Questa famiglia sarebbe originaria dalla Germania, secondo una tradizione basata su un diploma dell'imperatore Enrico del 1021 riferentesi ad un altro anteriore di Carlo Magno dell'' 884; in realtà, storicamente, non si può risalire oltre un Verardo di Lauzana, vivente nel secolo XIII, dal quale discesero due rami, uno detto dei Ribisini, spentosi in Cividale nel secolo XVIII, l'atro, che ebbe residenza in Cividale, Cormòns ed Udine. Nel 1278 Stefano, figlio di Verardo, era capitano di Flambro feudo dei conti di Gorizia e suo figlio. Enrico, detto Sbrugl, fu investito di feudi di abitazione nel castello di Cormòns. Altro Stefano, dal 1428 al 1437, tenne in feudo il castello di Moruzzo. Rizzardo, nato nel 1450, fu poeta cesareo e professore universitario. Nicolò, colonnello sotto Filippo IV di Spagna e cavaliere di S. Giacomo, morì giovane in Udine dove esiste ancora il suo monumento nella chiesa di S. Pietro Martire. Gio.
