Famiglia siciliana, che si ritiene originaria dalla Baviera. Alfonso, consigliere di Stato di re Filippo II, dichiarato da questi traditore perché coinvolto in una congiura del regno a danno del monarca, fu privato di tutte le sue ricchezze ed onori e condannato all'esilio. Rifugiatosi in Roma, trovò protezione ed aiuto da Clemente XIII e Urbano VIII e morì in detta città nel 1622 lasciando un unico figlio, Ludovico, cavaliere di papa Urbano, morto anch'esso in Roma nel 1641. Santi, figlio di quest'ultimo, ritornò in Spagna e servì nelle truppe austro-spagnole, col grado di capitano e con le predette, si recò in Sicilia stabilendosi in Siracusa, alla cui Mastra Nobile fu ascritta la sua famiglia che diede senatore, cavalieri e giureconsulti fra i quali un altro Santi, morto nel 1641, ed un Lodovico, morto nel 1794.
