As primeiras memórias dessa nobre família datam do século XIII, no qual vivia um Allegranzio, que em 1270 obteve garantias de seus vassalos por ordem de Carlos I de Anjou. Sergio e Teodino, valentes capitães, estavam na cruzada sob Luís rei da França (1270): ainda era organizada por Luís IX a pedido de Clemente IV, mas agora os interesses políticos prevaleciam sobre os religiosos, tanto que o irmão do rei Carlos I d 'Anjou, rei da Sicília, conseguiu desviar a expedição para Tunes, Luís IX morreu de uma praga no cerco desta cidade (1270) e seu exército retornou à França.
