Antichissima casa cremonese, che fa discendere da un Giacomo Aldovrando, detto Schizza, di nazionalità scozzese, venuto in Italia con l'imp. Ottone III, quando scese a Roma per essere incoronato da Gregorio V, e da questi lasciato nel 998 quale capitano di Bordolano e Pratariso (ora Castello dei Visconti), in riva all'Oglio. Giacomo Aldovrandro lasciò sei figli, che dal sopranome del padre furono chiamati Schizzo. Di costoro Valerio fu vescovo di Cremona e Silverio generò Giacomo che fu padre di Benedetto, capitano di 200 fanti cremonesi portatisi in Terrasanta nel 1099; di Valerio, canonico nella cattedrale di Cremona dal 1096 al 1107 e di Giambattista, uno dei sei nobili cremonesi che nel 1096 andarono ambasciatori ad Arrigo IV per ottenere un magistrato e poter vivere in libertà.
