Famiglia stabilitasi a Lavis poco prima del 1500. Il capostipite è Cristoforo Guglielmo che ottenne dall'arciduca Ferdinando la nobiltà del S. R. I. con diploma del 24 febbraio 1576, e che fu ascritto alla matricola tirolese nel 1605 col predicato di Moos. Per relazioni di parentela, avvolte ancora nell'oscurità, essi ebbero poi in eredità i beni della famiglia Moos. Con un secondo diploma arciducale di Carlo Ferdinando, del 26 settembre 1653, ottennero la unione degli stemmi Schulthaus e Moos, come appaiono nell'arma di famiglia. Si distinsero un Giovanni, di Guglielmo Cristoforo, che entrò nella Compagnia di Gesù e morì a Roma (1618) in odore di santità: e anche un Gioachino, giudice patrimoniale di Montereale. Lo stemma della famiglia Schulthaus è: Inquartato: nel primo e quarto trinciato di rosso e d'argento al leone attraversante d'argento e sul rosso, e d'azzurro sull'argento, linguato di rosso e coronato d'oro, con la coda
