La famiglia, notata nel Libro di Montaperti del 1260 con "Ranierus Schulze", bandita come ghibellina nel 1268, confinata con Duccio di Buono di Bernardo nella pace del Cardinal Latino del 1280, dichiarata magnate nel 1342, trovasi nei primi del secolo XV a Montecatini in val di Nievole, dove viene presto ammessa ai primi onori di quella terra, e dove, dal 1520 al 1525, in più documenti, la parola B. é usata promiscuamente come patronimico e come cognome: onde, in seguito, il cognome attuale. Reintegrata nella nobiltà fiorentina con sentenza del Magistrato Supremo del 21 gennaio 1746, ottenne l'ascrizione al patriziato di Firenze per decreto 19 setembre 1768; e, recentemente, Federigo di Enrico di Federigo e Giulio di Enrico di Arcangelo aggiornarono questa loro posizione nobiliare per mezzo dei decreti presidenziali 11 maggio 1926 e 19 ottobre 1927. a) Giulio di Enrico di Arcangelo.
