Antica e signorile famiglia cremonese, originariamente conosciuta come Scarpa, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia, con maggiori insediamenti nel Lazio, ove fu spesso trascritta come Sciarpa, cognome poi consolidatosi nell'uso nel tempo. Tal famiglia si è particolarmente distinta nella vita civica della propria patria, partecipandovi sempre attivamente e producendo una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare.
