Antica ed illustre famiglia pugliese, originatasi dai Duchi di Sterlich, in Terra Tedesca. Si ritrovano già al tempo di Re Guglielmo II, un Bernardo Scorrano ed un Guglielmo Scorrano, in qualità di Feudatari. Un altro Cavaliere, che fiorì al tempo dell'Imperatore Federico II, fu Signor di Scorrano e ricevette vari ostaggi Lombardi; Enrico, decorato del titolo di Dominus, Signore del Castello di Poggio di Rosa e di altri feudi, nel 1318; Bernardo, Signor della metà del Castello di Mortola e di altri feudi, Gentil Signor di parte del Castello di Scorrano e di Cappagatta, nel 1328. Tra i Baroni che seguirono le parti di Re Manfredi, rinveniamo, poi, un Angelo Scorrano.
