Oriundi di Nizza Monferrato, vengono in fama con Francesco, medico, il cui figlio Nicolò, giureconsulto, podestà di Mantova e referendario ducale, acquista punti di Vaglio per mille crosoni il 6 dicembre 1606. Procreò Paolo Francesco, che, capitano di cavalleria del duca di Mantova (18 luglio 1647), fu padre di Nicolò (n. 1607; dec. 19 aprile 1706), governatore di Nizza Monferr. (29 luglio 1685). Dal suo matrimonio con Anna Spinola, che testò il 23 sett. 1718, nacquero otto figli, fra cui Ascanio, che fu investito (3 luglio 1734) del feudo di Vaglio con titolo baronale. Ascanio sposò Regina da Passano di Occimiano e ne ebbe, fra altri figli, Lodovico che lasciò discendenza fra cui Ascanio, ufficiale compromesso nei moti del 1821, e il barone Nicolò, continuatore della casa.
