Distinta per ricchezze ed onori, salì da bassa fortuna in altissimo stato mercè l'usura esercitata da un Rinaldo Pota di Scrova che era stato in origine suonatore, e che fu il capostipite di questa casa, la quale fu ammessa al Consiglio nobile della città di Padova nel 1801. L'Orsato la nomina fra i proceri nel 1106. Fu rivale dei Capodivacca, e la venuta dell'Imperatore Corrado in Italia nel 1310 contribuì a farla emergere sui suoi avversari. Amica da prima, poscia in odio ai Carraresi, abbandonò la patria, ma poi vi ritornò e resasi sospetta alla Repubblica di Venezia, fu esiliata e si stabilì nella Cisalpina. Manfredo provveditore di Padova nel 1235; Pietro giudice del collegio nel 1275; Enrico fece fabbricare nel 1294 il convento delle Orsoline a San Greguolo, quindi il convento e la chiesa dell'Annunziata, e nel 1306 si fece cavaliere gaudente; altro Manfredo podestà di Belluno nel 1370.
