Famille ancienne et noble, d'origine espagnole, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. L'origine de ce patronyme, selon d'illustres généalogistes, doit être recherchée dans le nom latin "Sebastianus", qui appartenait probablement à un géniteur aujourd'hui inconnu. Les vestiges les plus anciens, laissés par la famille, se trouvent en 1400, sur le territoire de Foggiano, en fait, dans un acte notarié, qui se lit comme suit : "... nobiblium virorum Ribaldi, Fredelici, Bartholomei et Sebastiani, palatium castri Ripalte, intervenant tractatu . ... abbatis monasterii Sancti Petri de Ripalta ... "; un autre exemple du nom de famille susmentionné, nous l'avons en 1600 à Rimini où, dans un autre acte, nous lisons: "... quondam magistri Sebastiani muratoris ...". En tout cas, la branche principale de la famille, ornée du titre de comte, s'est installée à Caprarola, où se dresse le palais noble homonyme sur la Via Filippo Nicolai à l'angle avec
