Família espanhola muito antiga e nobre, que se espalhou desde o século XII por várias regiões da Itália, fixando-se principalmente na Ligúria, Sardenha e Lácio. De fato, alguns Sechis em Gênova em 1199 estavam entre os signatários do juramento de lealdade do Marquês Malaspina; então, eram senhores feudais na Sardenha, onde o sobrenome já está atestado nos Condaghi (registros de escrituras conventuais, séculos XI-XII) com as várias grafias Seke, Secke, Sechie, Sekke, depois Seche, Sechi, Secchi e Sequi (na ortografia espanhola). Este sobrenome é difundido em toda a península espanhola.
